11. Parque Tecnológico de Asturias

A straightforward sprint map of a commercial technology park consisting of buildings with plenty of space between them with some interesting detail / landscaping around the buildings.
10. Valdesoto
Location: Siero, Asturias, Spain
Type: Forest
Scale: 1:10,000
Year: 2026
This forest, to the south of Valdesoto village, mainly consists of deciduous native trees. It is very runnable in places with an array of earth walls in what was presumably agricultural land once upon a time. It has similarities to the nearby maps Sariego and Vigil.

The town of Norena offers an interesting area for sprint orienteering with its irregular street layout.

8. Lugones
Location: Siero, Asturias, Spain

Year: 2025
Lugones is an active town with apartment buildings and parks, split down the middle by a busy road. It has an interesting small, dense area of apartments to the east which make for intense orienteering.
7. La Cebera
Location: Siero, Asturias, Spain

A beautiful public area just outside Lugones. Its history as an arms factory makes for some interesting contour shapes in the terrain. Is it a park? Is it a forest? It’s not quite clear making this an excellent place for beginners to dip their feet into forest orienteering.

6. Soto de Llanera

5. Campus del Milan
Location: Oviedo, Asturias, Spain

Year: 2024
The university campus, El Milan, just outside the center of Oviedo.
4. Poo
Location: Llanes, Asturias, Spain
Type: Sprint
Scale: 1:4000
Year: 2024
One of the few pueblos in Asturias large enough for an event. Pueblos offer an old style of town that usually contain chaotic layouts of streets and buildings.

3. Parque de Invierno

A very interesting park in Oviedo with a rich variety of vegetation, steep slopes and complex urban orienteering in the apartments to the north.

2. La Vega

A small sprint map of the village La Vega, close to the nearby forest map of Sariego. Created for basic trainings and promotional activities.
The Early Days
The map portfolio above begins tracking completed maps from 2022 when I began making maps in Asturias. However I was active during the previous decade in my native Ireland and made numerous maps of local areas including universities and parks.
This included the map of Maynooth University which I made alongside my brother in 2014 and which was subsequently used for the Irish Sprint Orienteering Championships that year. This map was later used again for the same prestigious event ten years later in 2024.
